DATABASE SYSTEMS

(FORENSIC) CASE MANAGEMENT

Today current forensic case management systems are no longer fit for purpose, and there is not a commercial-off-the-shelf product (COTS) that meets today’s user demands.

Many forensic case management systems have been around for some time, but they are either a one size fits all product for most of the requirements, or deliver a comprehensive system that only applies to a specific area such as Digital Forensic Units (DFU’s).
Securinex identified the need to research, develop and deliver an integrated system that caters for all the forensic disciplines, and one that can operate across multiple platforms and operating systems.  The ‘Scientific Forensic Examination Research Engine’ (S.F.E.R.E.) encompasses the main areas of forensic investigation, scenes of crime (including outsourced forensic service provision), fingerprint enhancement laboratories, fingerprint bureaux and DFUs.  It is designed to integrate with intelligence and other crime systems such as custody systems.

S.F.E.R.E. was designed from the ground up, with a focus on operating on mobile platforms.  This is because of the design of its forms and it is hardware and software (system) agnostic.  This feature also serves to future-proof the S.F.E.R.E. application against further policing and technology developments in the digital environment.

Securinex is able to provide a credible alternative to the ‘one system for all’ mentality that is prevalent in the market today, and releases security agencies from the shackles of having to ‘suffer’ systems designed for the purposes of other agencies and whose I.T. systems, demographics or requirements differ.

This is achieved by providing a suite of powerful integration tools, core forensic applications and a flexible database engine.  This is all coupled to configurable and generic user interfaces, to enable agencies to tailor the system to their own individual needs through a simple entry in to a ‘Definitions’ section.
