The importance of Communications Data (CD)/CD Records (CDRs) in support of intelligence and investigative processes cannot be underestimated. These data sets have consistently proven to be an invaluable tool in the armory of national, regional or global protective organizations; whether they are military, law enforcement, intelligence or national security agencies.
Today, over 80% of criminal trials, financial investigations and counter-terrorist operations in the United Kingdom and the United States involve CD/CDRs, by delivering the ability for analysts to access and examine current and historical data in a timely manner. It is a “game changer” for investigation and intelligence purposes; particularly if the right resources can be brought to bear, providing agencies with case direction and informed decision-making opportunities. Importantly, the data that is accessed from high integrity sources, which operate to international standards in a highly regulated environment.
Cellphones are now an integral part of everybody's daily lives and their substantial adoption and the digital communications trail it produces provides rich insight into the lives of suspects or vulnerable persons. This data leaves a forensic footprint of behavioral patterns, activities and associations and can be targeted toward many areas of intelligence to create a contextual understanding of multiple issues.
The Securinex CD/CDR Data Retention & Disclosure (DR&D) system - GioMASS - allows for the capture and detailed analysis of the information collected by Telecom Operators (TOs). The system principally applies to cell phone TOs, but it can also be modified to include the data collected by Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and fixed line providers.
